Here are some of the organizations with which we work.

From www.desmondtutuhivfoundation.org.za:

The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) is a registered non-profit organisation focused on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa.

The foundation has a strong commitment to service delivery and community development but maintains an imperative to underscore this with evaluation and relevant research with the ultimate aim to impact on policy. The DTHF is involved in a number of initiatives which include the provision of antiretroviral therapy, studies into adherence strategies, clinical research, resource development for health care professionals, preparation of communities for HIV vaccine trials, adolescent sexual health and HIV prevention.

The DTHF provides antiretroviral therapy to public sector patients in both Nyanga and Masiphumelele as well as at the Clinical Trials Unit based at the Desmond Tutu Centre in the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Molecular Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cape Town

From www.bushradio.co.za:

Bush Radio’s mission is to ensure that communities who have been denied access to resources, take part in producing ethical, creative and responsible radio that encourages them to communicate with each other, to take part in decisions that affect their lives, and to celebrate their own cultures. Through such radio, communities will affirm their own dignity and identity, and promote social responsibility and critical thinking.

Children’s Radio Education Workshop (CREW): The CREW project started in 1996 with 6 children going on air on a Saturday for two hours. The aim of the CREW project is to have only children’ s voices on air on a Saturday. To achieve this, Bush Radio trains children in radio skills, so that they could write a script, research, present and engineer for their own show. Today the CREW project has grown to include 60 children ranging from the ages between 6 – 18 years, coming from different geographical areas in our target community. Because of the numbers, we’ve had to split them into two groups: one group going on air, while the other group undergoes training and prepares for on air programming the following week.

CREW is split into the following programmes:

-Bushtots: ages 6 – 9 on air between 10:00 – 11:00

-Bushkidz: ages 10 – 12 on air between 11:00 – 12:00

-Bushteens: ages 13 – 18 on air between 12:00 – 14:00
